He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives

Precious Moments

by Sandy Coursey

Life's precious moments are but a few,

Come once a life time,

Flying quickly from view.

Like a good, aged wine to enjoy and savor,

Sip it ever so slowly, enjoy the flavor.

You only get one chance at life's sweetness,

Then it's gone forever.

Life's precious moments, like a soaring bird,

Full of song, bright colors aflutter,

Dancing on invisible wind

Forever searching the vastness of sky so blue.

Here, there, everywhere, then gone again, out of sight

Slipping away, forever, no more to be seen, no more in our view.

Life's precious moments, like a train.

Slow starting at first, yet quickly gaining speed.

Full steam ahead!

Scenery flying by one's window of glass.

Life in full motion, speedily hastening down the track.

Wait!  Take a moment!  Look at the meadows, take in the flowers, check out the sky!

Look!  Is that your children, all grown up, out of the nest and ready to fly?

When time is past, you can only look back,

And see the tracks the train has left behind,

And the lonely blue sky.

Life's precious moments are on a fast track, never to return.

Yet one day we'll come to a heavenly destination,

One just around the bend,

A place of rest, a place of beauty,

A place where time will never end.

As the station comes into view,

The weary traveler can take delight

Knowing the beginning of a heavenly journey

Is finally forever in his sight.

Tired, weary and ready to go home,

Waiting to be greeted by the Savior,

The One who shed His blood on the cross of shame,

And died there, all alone.

Yet, He arose in victory, on the third day

With keys of death and hell in hand,

To be greeted by His Father from above,

Who looked at Him in perfect love.

Your Savior's patiently waiting at the station, you know

With arms outstretched, face all aglow,

Inquiring of the weary traveler, "Are you ready to go?"

With soft-spoken lips, He whispers in his ear

"Your destination has ended, finally you're here.

Your trip's not over, it's only just begun!

I have a plan for you,

One created by your Father with love.

Where you'll never grow old, never grow weary,

Never shed a tear, live in fear or ever worry.

Remember the day when you trusted in me with all your heart?

When I stood knocking at the door

You quickly invited me in?

Thanks to your act of faith and your love for Me,

You've been granted liberty, forever set free.

Like a sheep once lost, now you've been found.

My love, grace and mercy are shown to all,

And greatly abound."

The traveler was handed a white robe,

Washed by the blood of the Lamb

Who then inquired, "Sir, what's Your name?"

The man replied, "The Great I AM!"

So hand in hand they went, without a trip or a stumble,

Down the heavenly path, where only a remnant will travel.

Unafraid, unfettered, unfaltered, without hesitation

Step by step, hand in hand,

Walking with our Lord and Maker

Casting footprints in the sand

As we talk with our Savior.

Yes, life's precious moments bring joy to the soul

Sometimes lasting a lifetime,

Yet all to quickly dies.

Eternity is forever, a long time without end.

So don't wait until it's too late

Don't let the train pass you by,

Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and live with Him forever,

On the other side of the deep blue sky.
