He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives

In the future, CARE, Inc. desires to expand the counseling ministry to include those who suffer from Type A traumas.  It is felt that this type of expanded ministry would be a Christian outreach to the Baldwin community at large.

"Type A traumas are the absence of good things we all need to receive.  These traumas produce problems in relationship, so recovery requires a loving relationship to fill the Type A void."  E. James Wilder, Ph.D. - Life Model

Psychological Abuse is defined as "rejecting, degrading/devaluing, terrorizing, isolating, corrupting, exploiting, denying essential stimulation, lack of emotional responsiveness or availability, unreliable and inconsistent parenting."  (#1-4, 6, 7, Hart et al., 1987, #5, Garbarino et al., 1986, #8 Briere 1992)

Emotional abuse is defined as "the act of omission, frequently the result of parental ignorance or indifference.  As a result the child is not given positive emotional support and stimulation.  Parents may give adequate physical care to the child but leave him/her alone in crib for long periods of time, seldom cuddle or talk to the child or fail to give him/her encouragement and recognition."   (Briere, John N. 1992 Child Abuse Trauma Theory and Treatment of the Lasting Effects. Newbury Park, CA: Sage)

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of their people.  He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.  Praise the Lord.  Psalm 113:7-9
